Shaikh Hebatullah Bhai Saheb Dahod

The Enduring Legacy of Shaikh Hebatullah Bhai Saheb in Dohad

4th Safar marks a blessed night – the Urs Mubarak of Shaikh Hebatullah Bhai Saheb AQ.

Shaikh Hebatullah Bhai Saheb, originally from Ujjain, dedicated his life to serving the community in Dohad. He was renowned for his profound miracles and unwavering devotion, leaving an indelible mark on the history of Dohad and its Mumineen.

One of the most remarkable accounts of his life speaks to his immense sacrifice. Many years ago, a devastating plague swept through Dohad, claiming the lives of countless Mumineen. The disease spread rapidly, with funerals becoming a daily occurrence. In this dire time, Shaikh Hebatullah Bhai Saheb, with immense courage and selflessness, prayed to Allah Ta’ala, offering his own life in exchange for the safety of the Mumineen. His prayer was answered, and he succumbed to the illness, protecting the community through his ultimate sacrifice.

His passing was mourned deeply by communities in Ujjain, Dohad, and surrounding villages. His relatives traveled to Dohad to lay him to rest. Today, his revered Qabar lies alongside that of Shaikh Ismail Ajabshah Saheb in the same Qubba Mubaraka in Noor Baug. Shaikh Ismail Ajabshah Saheb was also a figure of great miracles, and it is customary to make manaat (vows) at his Qabar Mubarak.

Dohad: A Hub of Faith and Community

Dohad holds a significant place in the Bohra community. After Mumbai, it is home to the highest number of Mumineen. The city is blessed with numerous masajid, serving as vital centers for prayer and community gatherings. By the grace of Mawla TUS, 12 masajid thrive in Dohad:

  • Najmi Masjid (the largest in Dohad)

  • Husaini Masjid

  • Husami Masjid

  • Badri Masjid

  • Saifee Masjid

  • Burhani Masjid

  • Hamidi Masjid

  • Noor Masjid

  • Vajihi Masjid (Noor Baug)

  • Mohammedi Masjid

  • Hasani Masjid

  • Imadi Masjid

During Huzurala TUS’s visit for the Waaz Mubarak on the Shahadat of Imam Hasan AS in 1445H, three masajid were inaugurated. The new masjid in Qutbi Mohalla was graciously named Imadi Masjid, while the names of Husaini and Husami Masajid were lovingly retained.

The significance of Shaikh Hebatullah Bhai Saheb’s resting place is further highlighted by the fact that the 52nd Dai Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA Aqa himself performed his Ziyarat.
